Access to convenient and quality healthcare is an important element when it comes to maintaining a high standard of living. Fortunately, residents and visitors to this Southeast Pennsylvania area are furnished with some of the region’s finest medical services and programs. From private practices and specialty clinics to comprehensive hospitals, exceptional healthcare is never far from home.

With a history in the community stretching back nearly a century, Abington Memorial Hospital (AMH) has established itself as a leading medical resource in the North Penn and Indian Valley Region. The 570-bed hospital serves as a regional referral center for cancer care, cardiac care and surgery, and also stands as an excellent teaching hospital. More than 5,500 employees and 900-plus physicians make AMH one of Montgomery County’s largest employers. The hospital also utilizes the time and effort of more than 1,100 volunteers each year.

Centers of excellence offered through AMH include the Pilla Heart Center, Rosenfeld Cancer Center, Human Motion Institute, Stroke Center, Muller Center for Senior Health and the Institute for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. In addition, the hospital operates the county’s only Level II-designated Trauma Center (the Pennock Emergency Trauma Center) and was the first acute care facility in the Philadelphia area to receive Magnet designation in 2003 (receiving re-designation in 2008).

As a teaching hospital, AMH currently contributes to five residency programs in the areas of family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, general surgery and dentistry, while also operating the Abington Memorial Hospital Dixon School of Nursing and the Radiologic Technology program.

Abington Memorial Hospital operates several other facilities offering outpatient services, including Abington Health Center’s Schilling Campus (Willow Grove) and Warminster Campus (Bucks County), as well as Abington Physicians at Montgomeryville (North Wales).

In 2008, AMH acquired the 125-bed Lansdale Hospital (formerly Central Montgomery Medical Center), an acute care general hospital equipped with 700 dedicated employees and a medical staff exceeding 300 physicians. Among its many distinguished features are its 24-hour Emergency Department, a Sleep Care Unit, a Wound Care Center and a 13-bed Acute Rehabilitation Unit. Each year, Lansdale Hospital sees nearly 6,000 inpatient admissions and approximately 60,000 outpatient visits, including more than 22,000 Emergency Department visits.

Just north of Montgomery County is Grand View Hospital (GVH) in Sellersville, another reputed healthcare provider in the region. Hailing as Bucks County’s first hospital, GVH is a 225-bed community hospital offering an exhaustive list of inpatient and outpatient healthcare services—notably in the fields of cardiology, orthopedics, surgery, cancer and women’s and children’s health.
