Arts and Entertainment

With such an attractive downtown, it only makes sense that the people of the Borough of West Chester are committed to the arts. Downtown West Chester is even home to 15 shops that feature gallery works.

Nearby West Chester University has a thriving College of Visual and Performing Arts that hosts several events in the arts, music and theater each academic semester, too, or you can kill two birds with one stone by dropping by the Chester County Historical Society to enjoy the decorative arts collections while brushing up on the region’s rich history.

The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce (GWCC) organizes and hosts several community events throughout the year. These events not only promote Chamber members but also attract locals and tourists to participate in community gatherings. A sampling of these events include:

The Iron Hill Twilight Criterium: Since 2005, Iron Hill Restaurant & Brewery has sponsored this premier professional cycling event. Over 200 professional-level racers participate in this event and downtown West Chester finds itself overrun with onlookers to watch the excitement.

Gallery Walk: This self-guided tour of West Chester’s art galleries is held in downtown West Chester the first Friday in June and October.

MARS drinks Old-Fashioned Christmas: Born in 1980, this four-day annual event serves as a holiday kick-off. The event provides fun and games for the entire family and is highlighted by the MARS drinks Old-Fashioned Christmas parade.
