Western Chester County is home to numerous superior health care facilities. Hospitals, private practices, specialty centers, in-home healthcare and senior living residences provide all the needed services to the community.
Brandywine Hospital: New leadership, expanded medical staff and new services
Brandywine Hospital, with 169 private rooms, has provided a continuum of care in Chester County for over 100 years. Much has changed recently in the local and national health care arena, including the services at Brandywine. Now under new management – the hospital is transforming itself to better serve the community with increased access and convenience to quality, advanced care.
Western Chester County native Jeff Hunt returned to the area to assume the CEO position at Brandywine. “I always loved this area – in addition to family, it offers excellent schools, proximity to the city, competitive sports teams, quality medical care and more,” he said.
Hunt believes a healthy community is a thriving one. As CEO, his goal is to provide the highest quality of care in a safe, collaborative environment and to deliver a perfect experience to every patient, every time.
To increase access to advanced services close to home, Hunt established the Temple Cardiothoracic Surgery Program at Brandywine. Under the medical direction of Dr. Ravishankar Raman, board-certified cardiothoracic surgeons from the Temple Heart & Vascular Institute perform heart and lung surgeries at Brandywine using beating heart and minimally invasive techniques. He also recruited experienced general, orthopedic, and vascular surgeons to complement Brandywine’s span of quality surgical services.
Answering the county’s call for behavioral health services, Hunt brought on a new administrator and several psychiatrists; all are focused on customizing care and recovery to one’s strengths. The Behavioral Health Pavilion at Brandywine also houses an eating disorders unit for patients 13 years and older.
In addition, Hunt initiated a 30 minute (or less) emergency room service pledge, promoting that its staff will work diligently to have patients seen within 30 minutes (or less) of arrival by a medical professional (a physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner).
These changes are translating into numerous awards for quality and an outstanding patient experience at Brandywine. For more information, visit BrandywineHospital.com. ’
