Recreation

When it comes to recreation, the Clemson area is bursting with opportunities. This scenic northwestern South Carolina region is well known for its beautiful lakes, rivers and the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains, which serve as an unmatched backdrop when enjoying the outdoors. Hartwell, Keowee and Jocassee lakes are all ideal for fishing, swimming, boating and other water activities, while numerous trails wind their way around the region, drawing bikers, hikers and horseback riders. There are also plenty of chances to go camping, have a picnic or just kick back and relax at one of many local, state and national park or recreation areas.

On top of these outstanding outdoor sites, residents are invited to take advantage of a long list of recreation programs and facilities offered by area municipalities, including the city of Clemson and the towns of Central, Six Mile and Pendleton. The area also hosts the Foothills Area YMCA, Central/Clemson Recreation Center and a number of athletic organizations offering community members opportunities to participate in everything from basketball, football, baseball and soccer. In addition, the greater Clemson area features several excellent golf courses, including the Walker Course at Clemson University, Boscobel Golf Club in Pendleton and at Cross Creek Plantation in Seneca.

No matter the age, ability or interest there’s something for everyone to enjoy in the Clemson area.
