contentsHilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamberads

With careful planning and development, Hilton Head Island and Bluffton have become two of the most desirable destinations for business and pleasure.

For over 300 years, people from around the world have been discovering the exceptional qualities of Hilton Head Island. Since development reached maturity, the emphasis has swung to the business of sustaining year-round jobs through the area’s two largest industries – tourism and real estate. Hilton Head Island maintains a stellar reputation as a world-class resort, meetings and vacation destination.

But it’s also a wonderful place to call home.

With 2.4 million annual visitors, both small and large businesses are positively impacted by the tourism industry, which sustains 24,000 local jobs. In 2013, tourism had a local economic impact of $1.4 billion.

Each year, through the efforts of the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce and a number of area partners, visitors return to the Lowcountry – and some choose to stay.

Newcomers to Bluffton will find a vibrant town, moving quickly into the future but also forever mindful of its rich past. It is this delicate balance of past and present that makes Bluffton the unique and wonderful community it has become today.

Businesses and entrepreneurs are choosing locations that meet quality of life needs and business checklists. Bluffton is in a growth mode that’s attractive to both. Dedicated to entrepreneurship, innovation and attracting high-tech industries, the Don Ryan Center for Innovation is a public/private partnership with the Town of Bluffton, Clemson University, CareCore National and others leading development of new technology start-ups. What was once a one-square-mile village, Bluffton now encompasses 54 square miles and is one of the fastest-growing areas in SC.

Residents are filling this riverside village quickly, with an estimated population of more than 12,500 and a growth rate of more than 45 percent since 2000. Bluffton is teeming with new communities tailored both to families and retirees. Its fond reverence of things gone past paired with responsible, measured growth has allowed this sleepy Southern town to prosper beyond imagination.
