Houses of Worship

Rapid City and the surrounding area include many houses of worship – comprised of churches, synagogue and temples, serving a wide variety of faiths and denominations, traditional and non-traditional.

The ministries provided by local church groups are vast and all encompassing. Some of the opportunities include serving food at the local mission, Operation Christmas Child which supplies gifts and supplies to needy children around the world, and the Salvation Army which helps with donating coats for cold winters. Love, INC. (Love in the Name of Christ) offers many programs including the Clothe a Kid program which provides new clothing for low-income students to start the new school year off right.

For unique experiences here in the Black Hills you can attend Easter sunrise service at Mount Rushmore Memorial Monument or worship during the summer evenings at the Chapel in the Hills – Stavkirke, a replica of the famous Borgund Church in Norway. Memorial Park is the location of a free summer concert and ministry called Hills Alive, bringing in many popular Christian bands and performers on multiple stages with programs and events for all ages.

Rapid City welcomes you, your family and friends to worship and celebrate your faith and become an active participant in our church community.
