Perhaps Cedar Hill’s most polarizing lures are the 7500-acre Joe Pool Lake and Cedar Hill State Park. After all, 2 million annual visitors making this the second most visited recreation area in the state cannot be wrong... In fact, they’re very much onto something–the joy of nature’s works of art!

Here, in all nature’s glory, you can catch shooting stars, often obscured by big-city light pollution. And in the 1,826 wooded acres of Cedar Hill State Park, you can grab your gear and boat, fish, camp, ski, swim, or head for Joe Pool Marina, kick back and go for a nice, leisurely sail.

Sandwiched between ‘dreamsicle’ sunsets and sunrises, you can bike on unparalleled mountain bike trails or hike the nature trails for unique birding or lush botanical delights. You can feed the ducks and catch the frenzy of thousands of fish swarming for breadcrumbs at the Oasis Pier. Or if you’re into sand volleyball, there’s a court just for you, as well as four beautiful playgrounds, 355 campsite with facilities, and 30 primitive campsites for those who really like to ‘rough it."

To the delight of all seeking the lighter side of quality life, Cedar Hill’s just the city for you. If you prefer strolling hand in hand with their loved one amidst the gracious beauty of Mother Nature, that’s here as well. Plus, you’ll also find golf courses, a roller-skating rink and nearby Stars Ice Hockey Center, Cedar Hill community theatre, and 14 parks, including Valley Ridge Park with an amphitheatre and bowl seating for 2000. During the school year, Valley Ridge’s amphitheatre comes alive with the wondrous sounds of concerts in the park. Or if your recreation is reading, hit the local Zula Wylie Library.
