Mayor’s Welcome

Welcome to the City of Champions!

On behalf of our city council and staff, I would like to welcome you to our great city. We are part of the Best Southwest Partnership, Dallas’ best kept secret!

Duncanville is a community with a hometown feeling, a unique quality that distinguishes us from the rest. Yet, we are ideally located in one of the nation’s strongest economic epicenters, located less than 20 minutes from Dallas and Fort Worth. Each day we continue to build a vibrant, inclusive community, driven by a commitment to democratic principles and service above self.

We are one of the most beautiful cities in the metroplex, known for being a warm and friendly community. Nestled between I-20 and Highway 67, the City of Duncanville offers quality shopping and fine dining. Duncanville also offers 17 parks including our centrally located Armstrong Park which hosts multiple events throughout the year such as the Christmas parade and tree lighting ceremony, Fourth of July parade and festivities, summer concert series and much more.

Excellence in education is the standard in Duncanville. We are proud to be home to one of the largest high schools in the nation. The Duncanville Independent School District has been recognized by the Texas Education Association for its exemplary schools in the district and numerous state athletic championship titles. After all, we have a history of housing one of the best Girls Varsity Basketball Teams and Coaches in the nation! The Pantherettes have won the Texas State Championship in consecutive years: 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2017, while being led by Head Coach Cathy Self-Morgan.

These are just some of the reasons why people call Duncanville home. As you can see, it is easy to fall in love with our city. I am proud of our city and know that you will be too!

Sincerely,

Barry Gordon
Duncanville Mayor
