Variety of Activities
Edinburg offers a variety of recreational activities including three golf courses, two public swimming pools, approximately 40 parks throughout the city, two country clubs, and a twenty screen movie theatre.
The Tejano Walk of Fame is Edinburg’s tribute to Tejano music stars.
Fiesta Edinburg is celebrated the last weekend of February. Locals and tourists enjoy live concerts, carnival rides, a parade, 3-mile run, health fair, a diverse assortment of food booths, youth talent shows and much more. The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center produces this four-day event.
On the courthouse lawn in Edinburg is the Hidalgo County Veterans War Memorial, which honors heroes that served in World War I, World War II, the Korean War and in Vietnam. The Congressional Medal of Honor was awarded to three Hidalgo County residents.
Along with approximately 13 miles of hiking and biking trails in the city limits, are 40 acres of Scenic Wetland Trails located next to the Edinburg Municipal Park. Six observation blinds along the one-mile trail allow visitors the opportunity to enjoy the best bird watching in North America.
World-class rodeos, at the Sheriff’s Posse Arena, auto and motorcycle racing, and baseball help round out the area’s entertainment opportunities.
