Edinburg’s first hospital was actually part of a private physician’s home in the early 1900s. As the area continued to grow and develop, a hospital was constructed in the mid 1920s. Today, with approximately 400 doctors and 80 dentists, Edinburg residents and visitors have access to quality healthcare in three major hospitals, each with a fully-staffed emergency department.
Most prominent is the Edinburg Regional Medical Center, which opened its doors August 1, 1997. Offering the latest state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging in its newest addition, the 129-bed acute care facility features private suites in the Women’s Pavilion, Outpatient Pavilion and a four story patient tower. Included is a full-service emergency department, obstetrics, pediatrics, and inpatient and outpatient surgical suites. Continuing a 70-year tradition of medical excellence, the hospitals offer a variety of wellness outreach programs focused on the needs of seniors, children, women and families.
