Quality of Life
Wide, winding streets, large shade trees, and beautifully landscaped and well-manicured lawns give Harker Heights its reputation of having some of the most prestigious home sites in the area.
Harker Heights has a wide variety of restaurants, civic organizations, service clubs, convenience stores and nighttime entertainment. There are many recreational facilities that offer tennis, racquetball, golfing, swimming, boating, camping, fishing, horse back riding and much more.
Harker Heights is located 10 miles west of Interstate 35, which connects the community to Dallas, Austin and San Antonio. Stillhouse Hollow Lake is just five miles away, just off of U.S. Highway 190. Ft. Hood is only a 10-minute drive west on U.S. Highway 190. Killeen (Harker Heights’ neighboring city) is home to a regional shopping mall, hotels, restaurants and a regional civilian/military airport (Harker Heights itself sits in a peaceful, country-like setting).
