Polk County is centrally located in the heart of East Texas—Forest Country. Major expressways in the area include U.S. Highway 59, 190, the proposed IH69 Corridor and Interstate 45 (which is approximately 45 minutes west of Livingston). A proposed East-West Corridor, which could run through the county, promises to hold even greater and more exciting development opportunities for Polk County.

Approximately 50 miles of rail used by Union Pacific runs parallel to U.S. Highway 59 and the proposed IH69 Corridor.

Bush Intercontinental Airport, the fourth largest airport in the world, is located 55 miles from Livingston (approximately a 45 minute drive). Locally, Livingston Municipal Airport accommodates turbo props and business jets. It has a 3,700-foot lighted runway, and offers aviation fuel, tie-down and hangar space, and aircraft maintenance and repairs.

Brazos Transit, a general public transportation provider that covers 16 counties in Central and East Texas, handles public transportation. For more information on scheduling and services, contact (936) 327-0193.
