Tourism, Arts & Entertainment
After a day of shopping, sit back and relax at one of Lubbock’s state-of-the-art metroplex movie theatres. Live entertainment abounds regularly at one of our premier facilities that includes the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Theatre and the United Spirit Arena, with seating capacities of 1,800 and 14,000 respectively.
From Broadway musicals and "big name" concerts to community theatre and hometown entertainment, Lubbock has something for everyone. The numerous ballet folklorico and mariachi groups in the community bring a flair of old Mexico to cultural events throughout the city and at special occasions such as the Fiestas del Llano held every September in celebration of the Diez y Seis de Septiembre.
Museums, art galleries, the Lubbock Symphony, and Ballet Lubbock complement the arts and culture of this diverse region. For a trip down memory lane to the rock ‘n’ roll days of the 60s, the Buddy Holly Center located in the stylish entertainment Depot District is always a favorite stop.
The district comes alive with patrons each night sampling the variety of food and entertainment establishments that include the Cactus Theatre, the Hub City Brewery, Bleacher’s Sports Bar, nightclubs with live music and much more. It is a definite hot spot for the college crowd.
Lubbock’s award-winning wineries, the Cap*Rock Winery, the Llano Estacado Winery and the Pheasant Ridge Winery are all located minutes from the city and may accommodate tours and wine tasting opportunities.
