Join the many bikers and joggers who frequent the naturally landscaped trails of Yellowhouse Canyon Lakes under the region’s sunny skies that are common an average of 261 days out of the year. Lubbock’s favorable temperatures are pleasant throughout the year.

Lubbock is a golfer’s paradise with eight public, private or semi-private courses, certain to challenge the most avid golfer. Lubbock families take every opportunity to enjoy the many community parks and recreation areas found in every neighborhood. You will want to visit Aztlan Park located in the Guadalupe neighborhood and enjoy the beautiful mural that depicts the history of Hispanics in this area. From the fish stocked Playa Lakes to the biking and walking trails, Lubbock provides enriching opportunities for relaxation and social

interaction with families and neighbors. The Berl Huffman Athletic Complex which sits on 114 acres provides enthusiasts of soccer and softball with a first-rate facility. If you have a competitive streak, perhaps the annual Triathlon held in late June at Buffalo Springs Lake, located five miles east of the city, might be more to your liking. This popular 1,200-acre recreational site also offers horseback riding, fishing, water skiing, hiking, camping, nature trails and a beach area among its many other amenities.

If you would rather watch sports, the college campus of Texas Tech University provides a setting for NCAA action in a variety of sports and boasts many collegiate titles to its credit. Ice hockey fans pour into the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum to watch the Cotton Kings of Lubbock at every home game.

Children and adults eagerly await the annual Panhandle South Plains Fair every September, complete with a midway, daily live entertainment, exhibits, and livestock, cooking and crafts competitions. Joyland Amusement Park located in scenic Mackenzie State Park as well as Texas Water Rampage, Lubbock’s water themed park, and Legacy Play Village are other family favorites.

Beyond the excellent shopping opportunities available at over 150 specialty and major stores conveniently located in our famous South Plains Mall, there are also numerous shopping centers nestled in Lubbock neighborhoods throughout the city. Shopping is always just a few minutes away from home.

Lubbock is also home to many antique stores, including the Antique Mall of Lubbock. For persons with discriminating tastes and a craving for adventure, drop in at one of the two large flea markets that have made Lubbock a favorite for vendors and shoppers from all over the region.
