Arts and Entertainment

As part of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Mansfield residents have an abundance of sporting and cultural activities available to them. Texas Stadium in nearby Irving is home to the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. The American Airlines Center in Dallas houses the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks basketball team and the NHL’s Dallas Stars hockey team. The CISL’s Dallas Sidekicks soccer team plays at the Dallas Reunion Arena. Meanwhile, the Ballpark in Arlington is the home base for the American League’s Texas Rangers and NASCAR events can be experienced at the easily accessible Texas Motor Speedway.

College sports also abound from the Southern Methodist University Mustangs to the University of Texas at Arlington Mavericks, as well as the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs and the University of North Texas Mean Green. Mansfield college football fans can also catch the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

The Metroplex is host to numerous golf tournaments like the EDS Byron Nelson Golf Classic, Colonial Golf Classic and rodeos such as the Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo Championships.

In addition to sports, Mansfield residents also have convenient opportunities to take in cultural sights and events. From the Smirnoff Starplex Music Center concert series in Dallas to the Fort Worth Cultural Arts District, the arts are right on Mansfield’s doorstep. Dance, classical music, jazz, opera, theater and ballet are all a short drive away. The Mansfield Wind Symphony also hosts many performances in the community.

Several museums in the Metroplex are notable for their superb collections, including the Amon Carter Museum of Western Art and the Kimball Art Museum, known for its collection of Spanish masterpieces outside of Spain. Downtown Mansfield includes Mansfield Historic Museum and Hue Gallery.

With the opening of the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, theater continues to thrive in the area. Other theaters include Fort Worth’s Casa Manana and the Dallas Theater Center (designed by Frank Lloyd Wright).
