Rio Grande Regional Hospital has long been a quality leader, complementing a warm and welcoming environment with state-of-the-art technology. As it enters its third decade of service, the hospital’s future is brightened by a major expansion and renovation. With a $60 million investment, Rio Grande Regional Hospital will add 120 new private rooms, install the latest in technology and equipment (including nuclear medicine) and strengthen its long-standing commitment to medical excellence. It was recently recognized as Texas’ top hospital for coronary bypass surgery.

South Texas Health System consists of McAllen Medical Center, McAllen Heart Hospital, Edinburg Regional Medical Center, UHS Rehabilitation and Psychiatric Pavilion. With more than 650 beds, South Texas Health Systems is the largest healthcare provider in the Rio Grande Valley. McAllen Medical Center offers more than 35 specialties, including neo-natal intensive care. Heart Hospital is the first facility in the country to concentrate solely on cardiac problems.

In addition to its premier hospitals, McAllen is well served by the broader medical community, including more than 600 physicians, four ambulatory surgery centers, four outpatient imaging centers, and numerous industrial medicine programs to serve area business.
