Healthcare, Hospitals and Medical Centers

With Midlothian’s unprecedented growth in the last few years, we have also witnessed a substantial surge in a variety of healthcare services offered to Midlothian residents. Whether you have a minor illness or a serious medical issue, you can choose to get treatment from any of the area family-oriented practices, pediatricians, chiropractors, MDs, DOs, specialists, surgeons and hospitals, should the need arise.

Currently, Midlothian’s medical needs are met by two of the Metroplex’s best medical groups - Baylor Health Care System and Methodist Health System.

Baylor Health Care System
Healthcare for Midlothian residents is an outstanding mix of professional medical teams, advanced technology and superior medical facilities through The Baylor Health Care System. Baylor is committed to expanding services to meet the needs of Midlothian’s rapid and continuing growth. 2005 saw the opening of the Baylor Family Medical Center at Midlothian as a compliment to existing community medical services in the county. The Baylor Health Care System continues to grow with the recent announcement of the purchase of 83 acres of land at Interstate 35 and Highway 287 in Waxahachie and the plans to build a new hospital.

The current hospital, Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie, is a 69-bed, state-of-the-art hospital, and it is the largest medical facility in Ellis County. The hospital employs 457 people, sees more than 28,000 emergency patients each year and processes more than 36,000 outpatient visits for day surgery and diagnostic imaging each year.

Baylor Waxahachie offers advanced medical and technological services not typically available at rural medical centers. Recent technological advances have increased healthcare opportunities and patient benefits by hastening diagnoses, reducing discomfort and improving recovery times. A highly advanced medical staff of 70 active physicians, along with 158 provisional and courtesy staff, represents more than 20 medical and surgical specialties.

In Midlothian, medical specialty services may be found at the Baylor Family Medical Center. The Midlothian medical center specializes in the areas of cardiology, family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics and rehabilitative services. BaylorWorx at Midlothian opened in June of 2005 and is located in the Baylor Family Medical Center as well. BaylorWorx Rehabilitation and Fitness Center at Midlothian is a satellite facility of BaylorWorx Rehabilitation and Fitness Center at Waxahachie and offers convenient rehabilitative services, including physical and occupational therapy, by utilizing modern rehab and cardio equipment.

Methodist Health System
To better serve the fast-growing southern region of the DFW Metroplex, Methodist Health System is building Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, a full-service hospital in Mansfield, just 10 minutes west of Midlothian.

This $127 million facility opened in 2006 and features advanced emergency room and surgery facilities, a cardiac catheterization lab, a women’s pavilion featuring Level III NICU, labor & delivery and postpartum facilities, an intensive care unit, inpatient dialysis, full-service radiology and 80 private rooms with capacity to expand 152 beds. The new facility will offer a broad range of diagnostic, primary care and specialty services.

This complex will complement the planned imaging center and physician offices in Midlothian, allowing Methodist Health System to offer a fuller range of medical care to individuals and families in Midlothian.

Methodist Midlothian Health Center, a new imaging center and physician offices in Midlothian, is located at the intersection of Highway 287 and Walnut Grove. The new facility features a central imaging center offering CT scans, open MRIs and x-rays, as well as professional buildings for other physicians.
