Tyler County Hospital opened its doors in 1950 and continues to provide only the highest quality medical care in this region of Texas. The 49-bed, acute-care facility is owned and operated by the Tyler County Hospital District and features a well-equipped Emergency Department, a comprehensive CLIA credentialed laboratory, an Imaging Department, a Cardio-Pulmonary Department, surgical services, a pharmacy and a variety of diagnostic and treatment services. The hospital also offers the esteemed Vocational School of Nursing, a 12-month program that began shortly after the facility’s establishment in 1954.

Additional sources for medical care within Tyler County include the seven primary care physicians, dentist and chiropractic services. In the southeast corner of Tyler County, in the community of Fred, Fred Health Care, PLLC has been an excellent addition to serve the southern residents.

Neighboring Angelina County is the site of the acclaimed Woodland Heights Medical Center. Reachable within 50 minutes of Tyler County, the center has been acknowledged for its excellence in cardiac care and has been commended for its exceptional pulmonary and gastrointestinal programs. In addition, Woodland Heights was presented with the Distinguished Hospital Award from HealthGrades in 2006. Highlighted services include the Open Heart Surgery Center of Excellence, Cardiac Cath Labs, Sleep Disorders Lab, Wound Healing Center, the Women’s Center, Imaging Services, Rehabilitation and Ambulatory Surgery Center.

Tyler County and its closely surrounding areas are also home to a number of services for the mature adult. Nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, rehab departments, Home Health Care and a new Dialysis Center, along with services provided by the Lakes Area Hospice.
