Tyler County Business and Industry

Tyler County enjoys a diverse economic environment ranging from smaller independently owned shops to major industrial companies.

It is strategically located at the junction of three major highways and is less than a 100-mile drive to the major market of Houston. What’s more, the area is home to a well-educated, hardworking labor base, the availability of a number of prime commercial and industrial sites – including the 165-acre Tyler County Industrial Park – excellent incentives and supportive business organizations such as the Tyler County Chamber of Commerce - making this an extremely attractive place to do business.

The county’s proximity to a multitude of higher learning institutions, regional vocational schools and state-supported training programs has aided the local economy. As of May 2007, Tyler County’s unemployment rate estimate rested at 5.1 percent, a sharp decline from May 2006’s unemployment rate of 6.5 percent.
