Whether you are visiting for business, pleasure or have been a lifelong resident there is never an ending of things to do in the Vernon area. There are over 400 hotel rooms in the area where you can rest and revive yourself after a long day of shopping at the unique, one-of-a-kind family owned shops. Shops here carry everything from antiques to the latest trends and everything in between; just don’t expect to find any cookie cutter malls here. After shopping around and working up an appetite stop in at any of the local restaurants, which offer a wide range of cultural fare to curb any appetite. Because Vernon is in the heart of “cattle country” diners will find TexMex cuisine, feel-good Texas fare and home cooking. Vernon is also home to four city parks for outdoor recreation and only a short drive from Lake Kemp and Copper Break State Park which offers camping, picnicking, boating, fishing and more. Hill Crest County Club offers a nine-hole golf course on 84 acres, three tennis courts and a swimming pool. For the history buff the Red River Valley Museum can bring out the adventure in learning with exhibits and historical sites that celebrate the rich and vivid history of Vernon.
