Waxahachie Independent School District Located in the Ellis County seat, the Waxahachie Independent School District strives for "Excellence in Education" by forming strategic partnerships with parents and the surrounding community to produce well educated, responsible citizens who can excel in a complex word.


Situated approximately twenty-five miles south of Dallas, Waxahachie ISD offers exceptional educational opportunities to more than 6,500 students due to its desire to focus on student's needs first. With five elementary campuses (K-5), one sixth grade center, one junior high (7-8), one ninth grade academy (9), two high schools (9-12) and three new campuses slated to open in August 2008, Waxahachie ISD continues to pave the way for "Excellence in Education." In August 2007, Waxahachie ISD will become home to the prestigious Waxahachie Global High – a T-STEM academy focusing on science, technology, engineering and math.

For more than 125 years, Waxahachie has maintained the reputation of providing superior academic instruction in addition to providing a student friendly environment. The district's goal is to ensure that every child is successful and that every decision made lends way to the philosophy of "We educate one child at a time."

Education Foundation for Waxahachie
ISD The Education Foundation for Waxahachie I.S.D. is a non profit, tax exempt 501 (c)(3) organization that exists to fund innovative programs that enhance the quality of education in Waxahachie I.S.D. While a separate legal entity from Waxahachie ISD, the foundation seeks to provide funding for educational programs that are not supported by tax dollars and strives to support WISD's commitment to "Excellence in Education."

The primary purpose of the Foundation is to fund grants-to-teachers programs such as professional growth grants and instructional grants. The foundation also awards a number of scholarships to graduating seniors each year in May.


Each year the foundation hosts a number of fundraising events such as the Festival of Trees and the Education Foundation Classic to continue being able to provide funds for education programs. To date, the foundation has given away more than $70,000 in teacher grants and scholarships to WISD staff and students. Waxahachie Global High
Waxahachie Global High is Waxahachie Independent School District's latest venture into innovative education. Funded in part by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, the Texas Education Agency, and business and corporate sponsorships, Global High will embrace the T-STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) objective which is to improve performance in science and math related subjects in Texas secondary schools. Through project based, hands-on learning in a smaller environment and the promotion of global partnerships, the WGH curriculum will integrate academics and technology to open up the world and its opportunities for its students. The WGH vision is based on the belief that students can embrace learning as a lifelong pursuit and become productive citizens of the local and global communities.

Navarro College
Waxahachie ISD has a unique relationship with Navarro College, a two year public community college, located in Corsicana, Texas. Waxahachie ISD students have the ability to take dual credit college courses while in high school as well as during the summer with the Waxahachie campus being located in close proximity to Waxahachie residents. One of the key benefits of this relationship is that with Waxahachie Global High. Navarro College and Waxahachie ISD have partnered together to offer Global High students the ability to obtain their high school diploma as well as their Associate Degree in Applied Science upon graduation.
