Community Organizations

Residents of Cumberland, Farmville, and Prince Edward have a rich history of generosity, philanthropy and kind-heartedness.

Each year, area businesses donate to worthy causes such as health care for children in need, providing shelter for battered women and children, and feeding the hungry. Individuals volunteer countless hours to tutor at-risk schoolchildren, provide food and assistance to elderly shut-ins and counsel those battling substance abuse problems. Students from area schools, Hampden-Sydney College and Longwood University, also assist in a wide variety of community service activities.

Over 80-community organizations work to improve the community’s quality of life and they could certainly use your help in doing so. These organizations work to provide affordable housing for working-class residents, clean and protect the region’s scenic waterways and raise money to fight a variety of debilitating illnesses.

The Farmville Area Chamber of Commerce, Farmville Downtown Partnership, Town of Farmville, and Prince Edward County have come together to form a new key group called THOYA (The Heart of Your Adventure). THOYA works hard to promote our area through its rich history, outdoor adventures, hospitality, shopping, culture and more.

Farmville Downtown Partnership is a member of the Virginia Main Street network and is an accredited member of the National Main Street Center. Farmville Downtown Partnership‘s volunteers work year round to create an environment appealing in appearance, social vibe, and job creation. Farmville Downtown is a “must see, must do” for south central Virginia. We are Farmville Downtown: The Beat of the Heartland.

For more information about Farmville Downtown and Farmville Downtown Partnership, contact them at (434) 392-3060, by email at director@downtownfarmville.com, website at www.farmvilledowntown.com, or visit their office at 121 E. Third St. in Farmville Downtown.

If you’re seeking opportunities to be involved in a worthy cause, there is no shortage of opportunities in the Farmville area. Check out a snapshot of our community organizations below:
