contentsFarmville VA Chamberads

Religious Life

The Farmville area has many houses of worship, representing a wide variety of denominations and faiths. Freedom of religion is cherished in in our area because of Virginia’s history as a sanctuary for people fleeing repression. Several early non-establishment churches, like Cub Creek Presbyterian Church, were started in our area in the late 1700s.

You will find hundreds of churches and houses of worship representing dozens of faiths. Many of our churches are centers not only for the religious life of area residents, but are also architectural treasures. Their congregations add to the close-knit sense of community valued by our residents. In addition, many support the Farmville-Prince Edward-Cumberland community at large in invaluable ways, offering support groups and outreach programs that touch residents regardless of their religious beliefs and practices.

Both institutions of higher learning offer religious groups for students, allowing them to worship and complete service projects with their peers at times that coordinate with their schedules.
