Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg partners with area families, local government, businesses, faith groups, schools, associations and individual volunteers and donors to build safe, decent affordable homes and also to repair homes for lower-income families. In response to the great need for safe, decent, affordable housing on the Virginia Peninsula, an ecumenical group of individuals formed this local affiliate in 1985.

National Institute of Aerospace

The National Institute of Aerospace is a nonprofit research and graduate education institute created to conduct leading-edge aerospace and atmospheric research, develop new technologies for the nation and help inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.

Youth Volunteer Corps of Hampton Roads

Established in 2009, the Youth Volunteer Corps of Hampton Roads is the first affiliate in the state of Virginia and is one of more than 50 affiliates of Youth Volunteer Corps of America. Founded in 1987, this organization has involved over 240,000 youth volunteers ages 11-18 in more than four million hours of service.

Sarah Bonwell Hudgins Foundation, Inc.

The Sarah Bonwell Hudgins Foundation was charted in 1966. Its mission is the development and maintenance of its more than 38-acre campus, with 13 buildings leased to appropriate providers who serve people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The foundation believes in a philosophy of a more inclusive environment for those with disabilities. In addition to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities, the foundation’s goals include fund solicitation and the awarding of grants, as well as education and research.

Peninsula Community Foundation of Virginia, Inc.

The Peninsula Community Foundation of Virginia, Inc. was established in 2003 to provide individuals and organizations with opportunities to invest in our community in order to improve the quality of life for citizens of the Virginia Peninsula.

VersAbility Resources

Since their founding in 1953, VersAbility Resources has grown tremendously and now serves over 1,400 people with disabilities and their families each year in employment, community living, day support and early childhood programs. Services range from coordinating developmental therapies for children to building successful business partnerships that provide staffing solutions for employers and provide jobs in Hampton Roads and beyond for people with disabilities. Adults with disabilities participating in VersAbility Resources employment programs earn over $6.2 million in wages and benefits annually. They provide federal contract staffing through their 13 government contracts, through which people with disabilities work alongside enlisted and civilian personnel at military bases as far away as Hawaii.

The Y is the nation’s leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility through the four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility, family involvement, community partnerships and healthy lifestyles. YMCA membership and programs are available to all regardless of a person’s ability to pay the full price.

The Center for Child & Family Services

The Center for Child & Family Services is a nonprofit community service organization. Their mission is to empower people to face life’s challenges. Since 1943, the Center has been serving the needs of children and families on the Virginia Peninsula. They help with life’s challenges by providing programs to individuals and families that empower them to improve their lives. Programs range from Mental Health and Child Abuse Counseling, Family Counseling, Financial Education and Credit Counseling to Child Care Training and Consultation and Domestic Violence and Youth Violence Prevention Services. They have offices in Hampton and Williamsburg, serving thousands of people every year. l
