Public & Private Schools in Colville WA
Colville School District’s approximately 2,100 students are housed in five schools (pre-K-12). Learning standards in Colville are aligned with Washington State and national learning standards in the core academic areas of reading, writing, communication, mathematics, social studies/history, science, the arts, music, health and fitness. Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) testing reveals scores for Colville above the state average in most areas.
Additionally, career and technical (vocational) course electives are offered for grades 8-12. Technology learning is integrated into all coursework grades K-12. Students are taught by certified, experienced staff, 80 percent of whom hold master’s degrees or higher. Several are Nationally Board Certified, and the average years of staff experience is 17.

During the school year, the individual schools can be contacted for new student registration information. The schools will open two weeks prior to the beginning of the new school year, and new student registration will take place during this time.

Higher Education
Nowhere else in the state of Washington does a community of 5,000 have both a community college and a major four-year university. Community Colleges of Spokane and Washington State University support the development of the region’s workforce by enabling area residents to earn a variety of vocational and academic degrees without leaving town.
The Community Colleges of Spokane–Colville Center is a part of the Institute for Extended Learning. Several one-year college certificate programs, as well as five associate degrees can be found through the institution. The college also offers training opportunities through Health Occupations/Nursing program prerequisites, welding and industrial classes and interpreter training classes, along with career planning and guidance testing, Adult Basic Education, English as a Second Language courses, GED classes and testing and a number of non-credit courses.
A wide range of academic and business classes are transmitted live from the Colville Center to smaller community colleges nearby. A new, innovative, high-demand technology program will provide classes leading to web development and network engineering certificates and degrees.
The WSU Northeast Washington Learning Center provides support for the Distance Degree Program, a degree-completion program that brings the first-class resources of Washington State University to residents of this region through the offering of online degrees, certificates and professional development programs. Students who earn an Associate of Arts degree at the CCS-Colville Center or meet general education requirements can enroll at WSU and complete a bachelor’s degree in nine different areas. Online certificates include Early Childhood Development and Care and Professional Writing.
WSU Stevens County Extension offers materials, workshops and support for lifelong learning in a multitude of areas. All Extension programs are designed and supported by Washington State University.
