Let Us Entertain You
The arts in Langlade County offer a unique mixture of international, national and local flavor.
The Antigo Music Association draws a variety of professional musicians and entertainers to appreciative audiences. Five concerts are offered annually at Antigo’s Volm Theater and past performers have included the San Francisco Saxophone Quartet, the Dallas Brass Ensemble, the Sy Zentner Big Band, the Albert McNeill Singers and the Ontario Ballet.
A splendid vocal chorus comprised of several local residents, Of Chorus, has performed at Carnegie Hall and in Russia.
Concerts by the high school concert band, symphonic band, swing choir and two choruses are appealing as are Antigo Community Band performances including its ever popular summer series of events at the city’s main park under an outdoor bandstand.
The Antigo Community Theater is also widely acclaimed, having offered countless shows over its 18-year existence.
The former library serves as the county’s historical society and is well trafficked by resident and visitor alike as is the historic Langlade County Courthouse, constructed in 1905.
Antigo’s current public library, less than a decade old, houses nearly 60,000 books, provides excellent computer availability and is interconnected with libraries throughout central and northern Wisconsin. Its meeting room is a popular location for the numerous clubs and organizations that fill the city.
