Learning to Succeed
The Unified School District of Antigo is geographically one of the largest school districts in Wisconsin. It embraces 19 municipalities, has an area of 540 square miles, and a population of approximately 20,000. Over 40 school buses operate daily. Most of the district lies in Langlade County, with portions extending into Marathon and Shawano Counties. The city of Antigo is the most heavily populated municipality in the district with a population of about 9,000.
The district serves approximately 2,700 students; eight elementary schools (K-5) with a total of 1,000 students, one middle school (6-8) of over 500 students, and a high school (9-12) of close to 1,000 students. The central office building houses the central administration and support staff. There are over 250 professional staff and 145 auxiliary staff in the district.
The equalized value of the district exceeds $938 million. The district operates on a budget of approximately $32 million including debt service. Approximately 66 percent of the budget is derived from State sources, 30 percent is from local sources, and four percent is from Federal sources.
The district is served by a nine-member Board of Education. Board meetings are usually held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the High School IMC.
The Antigo community is fortunate and proud to have the Clara R. McKenna Aquatic Center. Located just adjacent to the Antigo High School, it is a convenient site for all. The aquatic center was built with privately funded donations and is operated by the Unified School District of Antigo.
The facility consists of two striking pools: a competition pool and a warm-water- therapy pool. The competition pool is 25 meters in length with six lanes, a one-meter diving board, and basketball hoops. It will be sure to suit the lap swimmers, athletes, adults and children. The warm-water-therapy/activity pool is one-of-a-kind and is appropriate and enjoyable for all ages. It has a zero degree entrance, play features, a relaxing built-in whirlpool, and a thrilling slide.

In addition to the unified district schools, Antigo is home to a parochial school and two pre-school centers. Langlade County also provides elementary educational opportunities to students in outlying areas as both White Lake and Elcho schools.
