A Compass for the Future
An in-town campus and several nearby colleges assure Antigo area students continued access to career preparation and advancement or simply keeping the mind sharp.
Northcentral Technical College (NTC) opened in Antigo in 1970 as the Antigo Vocational School. It has since expanded to include six sites in the area including a main campus in Wausau that boasts 45 career programs, 17 of which can be completed in Antigo. Antigo students can also take courses to earn associate degrees or career certification, or fulfill requirements of programs offered at Wausau. Total college enrollment is 22,300 with 220 full-time Antigo students and another 1,000 taking at least one course annually.
Through its Center for Business and Industry, NTC-Antigo works closely with area business and industry to tailor specific programs as part of its effort to support economic development in the area.
The University of Wisconsin Center-Marathon County is also located in Wausau, giving Antigo students another easy access to higher education. With an enrollment exceeding 800, the center offers two-year and four-year programs and several evening continuing education programs. The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is located 60 miles southwest of Antigo and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay 80 miles to the east.
