Government

Government

The Beaver Dam area consists of the City of Beaver Dam, situated at the southeast corner of Beaver Dam Lake, and suburban and rural neighborhoods in the surrounding Towns of Beaver Dam, Calamus, Trenton and Westford. Municipal government for the city consists of a mayor, and 14 alderpersons. Town governments consist of an elected chairman and four elected supervisors. County government provides services not provided by the town or city governments for their citizens. There are 10 county supervisors representing the Beaver Dam area.

Beaver Dam City Hall is located at 205 S. Lincoln Ave. and is home to municipal services including the Beaver Dam Fire Department. The City dedicated a new Police Department and Municipal Court at 123 Park Ave. in 2011. The Beaver Dam Community Library is located at 311 N. Spring Street, (near the Middle School and Post Office).

The Beaver Dam Senior Center and all City sponsored recreational programs are currently located at 114 E. Third St. within the Beaver Dam Community Activities & Services Department.

Community Center

The Senior Center, recreational programs and Parks & Forestry services of the City of Beaver Dam fall under the Community Activities & Services Department. The city is currently developing a donated property on south Center Street in downtown Beaver Dam to be known as The Watermark which will house the department and serve as a new community center for the young, the young at heart and everyone in between. The department provides a wide range of high quality programs, activities and services for children, adults and Senior Citizens. Summer activities are held in city parks; fall and winter sports take place in community schools. Partners include Beaver Dam Community Hospital, the public Library and more. Camp Crystal is held each summer at Crystal Lake Park and the Swan wading pool is a popular place for toddlers. This department also plans Concerts in the Park, rents shelters and public facilities and coordinates activities at the Senior Center. During the winter months residents can enjoy outdoor ice skating at Tahoe and Crystal Lake parks, with sledding on the hills at Crystal Lake and Waterworks parks.

The Town Hall for the Town of Beaver Dam is located at W8540 County Highway W, adjacent to the city limits.

Dodge County government is run by full-time paid staff, headed by the Dodge County administrator, and managed by 37 elected county supervisors. County government is headquartered in Juneau, the county seat, which is located about 10 miles southeast of Beaver Dam. The county’s Administration Building is located at 127 E. Oak St. and houses many of the departments of county government. The Justice Facility (Courthouse) is located in Juneau at 210 W. Center St. The sheriff’s office is located at 124 West St. in Juneau.
