Outdoor recreation can be found year-round in Pewaukee. The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for providing residents and visitors with different recreational programs, as well as maintaining the area’s beautiful parks. Around the Pewaukee area it is said that recreation and leisure enhance the quality of life, making fun, happiness and play a growing and significant part of the community.

The biggest recreation attraction is Pewaukee Lake. This four-square-mile gem offers countless opportunities for year-round fun. Known for its abundant muskie fishing and nationally recognized sailing races, Pewaukee Lake is a place to launch a kayak, boat or swim at the only free public beach in Waukesha County. Be sure to be on the lookout for the Pewaukee Lake Water Ski Club. This nonprofit organization performs about 20 shows a year while providing ski instruction and sponsoring and performing shows for the surrounding communities. The highlight at the end of the year for the club is the Waterfront Festival, where members provide canoeing, tubing and ski instructions for those with disabilities. Once the temperature drops, the activities don’t stop. Ice boating is nationally recognized, while ice fishing, tobogganing, skiing and many more activities can be found here during the winter months.
