Richland Community Introduction

What makes the Richland County area a great place in which to work, play and live? Who better to ask than two of our community leaders. Larry Fowler, Richland Center Mayor, and Ann Greenheck, Chair of the Richland County Board of Supervisors, shared their thoughts with us.

What makes us a great community… a 21st century community?

Larry: People here haven’t forgotten what the 20th Century has taught us… and that is to take care of what we have… our parks, our recreational activities, our farmland and our people.

Ann: Yes, we have wonderful recreational activities, arts and culture, the lower Wisconsin Riverway, the Scenic Highway, 267 miles of trout streams, 136 miles of snowmobile trails, bike trails, many parks and public lands. And the scenery here is one of our biggest draws to the community.

Larry: Our healthcare facilities are state-of-the-art… the hospital, clinic, elderly care, dental facilities and Health & Human Services all provide exceptional care and attention to the needs of our community.

Ann: Our educational facilities are second to none. We are home to the University of Wisconsin-Richland 2 year campus. Southwest Technical College houses a remote site in our community, and we have outstanding public school systems for elementary, middle and high school grades.

Larry: We develop our utilities to best service existing and new industries. We have excellent roads and utilities, and are working to provide broadband to the entire county.

Ann: And, we actively pursue new grants, new ideas and new technologies.

Ann: We ARE a 21st Century community! And we have the added advantage and reassurance that our community is safe, welcoming and progressive in all aspects of rural life, health, business and family. We’ve got it all!
