Location & Transportation

The communities of Sussex, Lannon and Lisbon are ideally positioned within north central Waukesha County—a part of the larger southeastern Wisconsin region. The area’s location places it approximately 19 miles northwest of the busy city of Milwaukee and nine miles north of the county seat in Waukesha.

State Highway 164 runs right through the area, while Interstate 94 is a few miles south and U.S. Route 41/45 is located just to the east. Numerous local thoroughfares, along with several County Trunk Highways, including K, MD, JK, KF, VV and Q, also serve the Sussex area.

Affordable and convenient public transit is provided through the County’s Waukesha Metro Transit system, along with the Milwaukee County Transit System, which operates a route from Milwaukee to the Quad/Graphics plants in Sussex and nearby Pewaukee.

The Canadian National Railway and Union Pacific Railroad are utilized by local business and industry, as is the Port of Milwaukee, located approximately 25 miles from the area.

Air travel is also readily accessible in the Sussex area. The Waukesha County Airport/Cities Field is less than 10 miles south, featuring modern amenities and facilities utilized for corporate and recreational aviation. For expanded commercial air transportation, Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International Airport is easily accessed about 28 miles from Sussex.
