Morrilton Introduction

One of the first things many newcomers notice is that for a town of just 6,500 people, Morrilton has as much to offer as larger cities. The 20,000 Conway County residents have access to an outstanding school system, including a community college, a medical center and a variety of medical specialists, an abundance of recreational opportunities and a close proximity to the state capitol in Little Rock. The citizens of Conway Co. enjoy a tremendous quality of life.

The economy of Morrilton and Conway County is very diversified with industry, tourism, retail and agriculture. All play a very important part in the area’s economic make-up. Morrilton has become the trade center for Conway Co. and neighboring Perry County with the 400,000 visitors each year at nearby Petit Jean State Park contributing greatly to that economy.

Other recreational opportunities abound with the Ozark National Forest bordering Morrilton to the north, and the Ouachita National Forest to the south. The Arkansas River borders the south end of town and river access is available at Cherokee Park.

There are numerous clubs and organizations to meet the interests of all residents and Conway County’s many volunteer organizations have received awards on both the state and national levels.

Morrilton and Conway County have had a steady growth pattern for years, stemming from a friendly “down home” attitude that fosters a strong business climate. Conway County prides itself on being an excellent place to live, work, play and raise a family
