Police and Fire Departments

Darien has its own police department. The City employs 40 sworn police officers, 13 auxiliary officers and a support staff of 19 civilians. The department is managed by Chief Robert Pavelchik and two deputy chiefs. Three fire protection districts serve the City's fire protection needs; Darien-Woodridge, Tri-State and Lemont Fire Protection Districts. Enhanced 9-1-1 service is also available within the City through a dispatch center located within the Darien Police facility. The Darien Area Dispatch Center provides emergency police dispatching for Darien and Lisle Police departments.
