Welcome to the Village of Mokena — a community of 18,669 residents that take pride in their motto of “Planned Progress … Pleasant Living,” and their success in preserving a unique small-town charm. Our extraordinary environment has been shaped through the years since the Village’s incorporation in 1880.

Mokena’s location at the crossroads of commerce and industry in the Chicagoland area offers many attributes and amenities to meet your needs — whether you are in business looking for a ready and able workforce and access to the interstate highway system and the global market, or a parent concerned with good schools, a safe environment and an abundance of activities for your children.

Mokena continues to offer a variety of developed sites to meet the demands of businesses looking to locate in the community. Mokena has several modern and well-designed business parks such as Mokena Crossings, Corporate Corridors, Olivieri Business Park, Corporate Corridors North, Spring Lake Corporate Center and Silo Creek Business Park. All of these developments are great examples of Mokena’s expanding business community. The Village welcomes businesses to look at Mokena’s favorable location, transportation accessibility, availability of land and infrastructure when considering a future business site.

Besides an array of business parks, we continue to expand existing commercial locations and add new sites to our town as well. M. Cooper Supply, a major plumbing supply company recently opened its doors in the Corporate Corridors Business Park. The Promenade recently finished construction along with The Boulevard and The Falls at Hickory Creek along 191st Street. Mokena Mills’ mixed-used building and the Berkots Super Foods major renovation/expansion are complete in the Downtown Area along with the new Old Plank Trail Community Bank. Old Mill Pond at 187th Street and Wolf Road is complete, and Mokena Corners Shopping Plaza has completed its expansion westward along U.S. Route 30. On LaGrange Road, Mokena Towne Square has added new retail space, and plans for Rose Plaza of Mokena just south of LaPorte Road are on track.

Most importantly, the Village welcomed a new 100,000 square foot J. C. Penney at the southwest corner of Wolf Road and U.S. Route 30 in the summer of 2008. This site has also been approved for a 200,000 square foot Meijer Store and several other retail outlets within the 55-acre Mokena Marketplace site.

Mokena offers a wide variety of housing styles to meet the demands of families looking for a community that can offer a solid education system, a variety of recreational facilities and a wholesome atmosphere. We have several active subdivisions with over 900 available residential lots. These new developments feature a variety of styles and value that will meet the expectations of almost anyone looking for a home.

Mokena is a community that prides itself on offering a wide variety of opportunities for everyone (from individuals seeking a new home to businesses of all sizes), and it works very hard to maintain its small-town atmosphere.
