graphicgraphicA swamp, a Native American camp, a farming community, a military town; these have all been accurate descriptions of Rantoul at one time or another throughout the past few hundred years. Today, though, this Midwestern village isn’t so easy to describe. Since Chanute Air Force Base shut down– after more than 75 years of operation here– the community has been working hard to create a new identity, mission, and vision for the 21st century.

Rantoul is home to hundreds of small and medium-sized businesses, plus more than 17,000 people. Residents of Rantoul are diverse, but share a number of important traits including: friendliness, a strong work ethic, and a sense of community pride.

Churches here are strong, volunteers are always ready to lend a hand, and service clubs are quite active. All in all, it’s a recipe for a great place to visit, to work, or to live!
