Streator residents are afforded several outstanding choices when it comes to receiving superlative education from early education through higher learning.

Centennial School

The community is served by three fine school districts. Streator Elementary School District #44 (K-8) and Streator Township High School District #40 (9-12) provide learning opportunities to students within the LaSalle County section of Streator, while Woodland CUSD #5 (K-12) caters to the education needs of the community’s Livingston County portion. Early education programs are also established in Streator, as are two alternatives to the public school route—St. Anthony’s School (prekindergarten-8) and Rhema Christian Academy (K-12).

For those students planning to continue their learning path post-secondary graduation, nearby Illinois Valley Community College (IVCC) is an excellent place to start. Located in Oglesby, IVCC serves an eight-county area composed of 21 high schools. Enrolled students have the chance to complete one of four transfer degrees (A.A., A.S., A.E.S. and A.G.S.), or take advantage of 24 career programs and 43 certificate programs designed to prepare students to enter the workforce in two years or less. IVCC also offers flexible distance learning options.
