Village of Winnebago

Located in western Winnebago County, the Village of Winnebago is a charming mix of rural lifestyle and economic growth. The quaint small town atmosphere lingers as the Village continues to grow with over 3,000 residents.


The traditional historic business district offers several quaint stores, eateries and local government offices, while the Winnebago Corners corridor, the new center of commerce, is located on Route 20 midway between Chicago and Galena.

Winnebago has many attributes, including an excellent school system, public library and many churches of varying faiths. The Village Hall is located just off the Pecatonica Prairie and Recreation Path, which runs from Rockford to Freeport; Winnebago is a popular place to start the trail. Nearby Westlake Village offers a championship 18-hole golf course, beach and clubhouse. Severson Dells Outdoor Ed Center and Forest Preserve offers natural recreation opportunities, while the Victorian Veranda Bed & Breakfast accommodates overnight guests.

Families both young and old enjoy many annual activities sponsored and supported by the Chamber, Park District, businesses, churches, schools and Village. One of Winnebago’s biggest events is the 4th of July Family Festival, which begins with a parade and finishes with spectacular fireworks. As growth occurs throughout Winnebago County, many families are migrating to the Village of Winnebago for its fine schools and excellent quality of life.
