In addition, businesses are drawn to Mount Pleasant’s strategic location at the crossroads of two major expressways and proximity to major metropolitan areas such as Chicago, Saint Louis, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Omaha, Indianapolis and Des Moines.

It is well known among local organizations that Mount Pleasant has a long history of providing for and championing its business community. In fact, Mount Pleasant was the first community in Iowa to offer industrial revenue bonds, and today the community works through the Mount Pleasant Area Development Commission (a partner of the Mount Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance) to facilitate business growth by extending Tax Increment Financing, tax abatement, low-interest loans and other financial incentives when appropriate.

Given its unique mix of assets and breadth of services, it is little wonder that Mount Pleasant is currently marketing its third industrial park. Crossroads Industrial Park is a 60-acre site situated at the intersection of U.S. Highways 34 and 218/27 and within one minute of a shortline rail spur on a Class 1 rail line. Each lot in Crossroads Industrial Park is shovel-ready, with utility infrastructure on-site.
