Licking Memorial Health Systems is a leading provider of healthcare in the county and its surrounding area. The system operates Licking Memorial Hospital, a 227-bed facility that has been recognized among Thomson Reuter’s 100 Top Hospitals for 10 years. The hospital has been caring for Licking County residents for more than 110 years, providing patients with a comprehensive list of high quality services and programs. In late 2008, the hospital opened a new Women’s Imaging Center and also experienced renovation in the Wound Clinic, Pain Management department and the Step-Down Unit.

In 1995, the system organized the Licking Memorial Health Professionals (LMHS), a group of more than 90 physicians representing a variety of practices. LMHS offices are located throughout the county in the communities of Newark, Johnstown, Pataskala, Granville, Hanover, Heath and Hebron.

The Medical Center of Newark (MCN) is a 67,500-square-foot general medical/surgical hospital featuring 33 inpatient beds and more than 90 physicians on staff representing 20-plus specialty areas. MCN, an extension of the former Newark Surgery Center and Newark Health Imaging, houses four operating rooms, three treatment rooms, imaging and laboratory departments and an on-site pharmacy.

Additional major health resources in the area can be found through the Genesis-Bethesda Campus and the Genesis-Good Samaritan Campus in Zanesville, the Mount Carmel/St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville, Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon and Mount Carmel East in Columbus. Also in Columbus is the Nationwide Children’s Hospital, an award-winning facility dedicated to the health and well being of area youth. Opening on the campus in 2012 is the brand new 12-story, 700,000-square-foot main hospital facility, which will double the size of the current hospital.
